Pepper Chicken Curry / Kurumulaku Chicken Curry Kerala Style. It is an easy recipe for Kerala pepper chicken fry preparation. This is a traditional Kerala style chicken in spicy brown gravy preparation.

Pepper chicken aka kurumulaku chicken is an easy and quick Kerala style chicken dry roa Nadan pepper chicken is the perfect side dish with rice. This dry pepper roast chicken is a bit spicy; reduce a little to suit your taste.

The Ingredients need to make Kerala Style Pepper chicken:
  1. It’s of Marination
  2. It’s 1/2 kg of chicken
  3. It’s 1 Teaspoons of pepper powder
  4. You need 1/4 Teaspoon of turmeric powder
  5. Prepare 1 Tablespoons of lemon juice
  6. You need 1 tsp of salt
  7. You need of Masala
  8. It’s 2 of Onions (medium)
  9. It’s 3/4 Tablespoons of ginger crushed
  10. Prepare 3/4 Tablespoons of garlic crushed
  11. It’s 3 of green chilli slit lengthwise
  12. Prepare 1 1/4 Tablespoons of black pepper Whole
  13. It’s 1 Teaspoons of garam masala
  14. You need 2 spring of curry leaves
  15. It’s 3/4 Teaspoon of fennel powder
  16. It’s 3 tbsps of coconut oil
  17. You need 1 cup of Small Thin square size coconut slices (optional)
  18. It’s 1 teaspoon of vinegar (optional)
  19. You need of salt

Pepper chicken aka kurumulaku chicken is an easy and quick Kerala style chicken dry roa Nadan pepper chicken is the perfect side dish with rice. I was having a bad cough and kurumulaku kapp gave me some relief and that is when I thought of making my grandmothers pepper chicken. Take a look at the Kerala style pepper chicken fry recipe and do give it a try.

Step to make Kerala Style Pepper chicken:
  1. Marinate the cleaned chicken pieces with salt, pepper powder, turmeric powder and lemon juice. Keep it aside for 30 minutes
  2. Crush the whole black pepper and keep it aside
  3. Thinly slice onions and green chilli. Grind ginger and garlic into a fine paste. Thinly slice coconut into square pieces
  4. Heat 2 tsps oil in a pan and fry coconut pieces until it becomes golden brown colour. Keep it aside.
  5. In a kadai/pan, heat the oil. When hot enough, add onions and curry leaves and saute well.
  6. When the onions are brown, add the ginger, garlic and green chilli. Saute well till the aromatics release their flavor.
  7. Add garam masala, fennel powder and crushed black pepper. Saute well.
  8. Add marinated chicken pieces and stir around till the chicken pieces are well coated with the masalas
  9. Cover and cook for 20 minuteAfter that open the lid and cook until the water evaporate
  10. Add 2 - 3 tsps oil and saute it until it gets roasted/fried well. If you like extra sourness, add vinegar

On a recent visit to Thalassery in Kerala, I had the privilege of tasting the delicious and spicy pepper chicken fry. The dish tasted amazing and the freshly ground pepper added a magical aroma to the chicken recipe. Kerala is a small state in southern part of India. And this dish is prepared in the kerala style.
