The Ingredients needed to make Kerala Style Parippu Vada (Dal Fritters):
- It’s 1 cup of Toor Dal / Chana Dal
- Prepare 6-8 of Pearl onions chopped finely
- You need 1 tsp of Ginger chopped finely
- It’s 1-2 of Green chillies chopped finely
- Prepare 1-2 of Dry red chillies chopped finely
- Prepare 1/4 teaspoon of Fennel seeds
- You need 1 pinch of Asafoetida powder
- Prepare 1 sprig of Curry leaves
- It’s Few of Coriander leaves chopped
- Prepare To Taste of Salt
- Prepare As required of Coconut Oil for deep frying
Step to make Kerala Style Parippu Vada (Dal Fritters):
- Soak Chana / Toor Dal in water for 2 Hour Drain the water completely. Make sure that the water is dried well. Pat dry using with a clean kitchen towel.
- Heat a pan with oil for deep frying.(If you want authentic taste, use coconut oil).When oil is really hot add in the Vada. Fry the vada tills golden brown on both side
- Crush the Dal in the small jar of mixie or food processor without adding any Make sure you dont grind it to a smooth paste.
- Transfer the Dal to a bowl. To this add in chopped pearl onions, green chillies, curry leaves, coriander leaves, dried red chillies, ginger, asafoetida powder, fennel seeds, salt. Mix everything together.
- Make small balls (lemon sized balls) from the Dal mix and flatten them with your palms, like Vada.Deep fry them.
- Serve hot with a cup of coffee or tea.
