But after seeing a couple of you tube videos, I decided its not time for me to make. Unniyappam or Unni Appam is a traditional Kerala sweet snack made from flour, banana, jaggery, coconuts and deep fried in ghee or oil. Unniyappam is a small round snack made from rice, jaggery, banana.

The Ingredients need to make Kerala Style Unniyappam (Banana Appam):
  1. Prepare 1 cup of Raw Rice
  2. It’s 2 of Bananas
  3. It’s 3 of Cardamoms
  4. Prepare 3/4 Cup of Jaggery
  5. You need 2 tbsp of Water
  6. You need 2 tbsp of Ghee or Butter
  7. You need 1/4 tsp of Dry Ginger Powder
  8. It’s 1 tsp of Black Sesame Seeds
  9. Prepare 1/4 tsp of Baking Soda
  10. You need of As required Salt

The batter made out of rice flour, wheat flour, jaggery ripe banana puree, flavoured with few pinches of cardamoms is poured into a mould called Appe Pan in which ghee is heated. Kerala style Unniyappam recipe made with soaked and ground raw rice. Recipe with step by step picture I have already shared the recipe of unniyappam / nei appam made with rice .

Step to make Kerala Style Unniyappam (Banana Appam):
  1. Soak the rice for 4 to 5 hour
  2. Drain off the water and put in a blender along with the bananas and cardamom Blend to a coarse paste without
  3. In a vessel, add Jaggery and Keep the flame on medium and stir till jaggery dissolve Boil till thick consistency. Off flame and let it cool slightly.
  4. Filter the jaggery syrup and pour into rice batter. Mix well. It should be thick dosa batter consistency.
  5. To the batter, add dry ginger powder, black sesame seeds, baking soda and salt. Mix well. If the batter is watery, add rice flour (1 tbsp)
  6. Heat Appe pan. Pour 1/2 tsp ghee in each mould of Appe pan. Pour batter into each Appe mould. Keep the flame on low. Cook for a minute or 2. Roast to golden brown on both side Cook till the toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  7. Enjoy the Unniyappam It taste good both hot as well as cold.
