The Ingredients needed to make Kerala Special Kanji Payar:
- It’s of For Kanji
- It’s 1 cup of Kerala matta rice
- Prepare 4-5 cup of Water
- You need 1/2 tsp of Salt
- It’s 1 tsp of Ghee
- You need of For Payar thoran
- Prepare 1/2 cup of Green gram/ mung been
- It’s 3 of Green chilli
- It’s 1 strand of Curryleaves
- It’s 1 tsp of Coconut oil
- Prepare 1 tsp of Mustard seeds
- You need 1/2 tsp of Urad dal
- Prepare 5-6 of Small onion
- You need 1/8 cup of Grated coconut
- It’s 1/4 tsp of Turmeric powder
- It’s 1 tsp of Salt
Step to make Kerala Special Kanji Payar:
- Preparing kanji Wash the rice and pressure cook it for 12 to 13 whistles in pressure cooker.
- Preparing payar thoran Pressure cook the mung been for 6 whistle
- Heat coconut oil in a pan/cheenachatti. Add mustard seeds, urad dal.
- When mustard seeds splutter, add curry leaves, green chilli and small onion. Fry till onion is transparent.
- Add Cooked green gram, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well.
- Add grated coconut and cook for 2-3 min Switch off the flame.
- Serving Kanji In a bowl/plate take kanji. Add some ghee and salt into the kanji. Enjoy this kanji with papad/pappadam, green gram/payar thoran and thengachammathi/coconut chutney.
