The Ingredients needed to make Christmas Trifle:
- Prepare 100 g of trifle sponges
- You need 150 ml of Cointreau or other favourite liquor
- Prepare 150 g of fresh raspberries
- It’s 350 g of fresh strawberries, sliced
- Prepare of Custard
- You need 6 of egg yolks
- It’s 50 g of caster sugar
- Prepare 500 ml of milk
- It’s 1 tsp of vanilla extract
- Prepare of Topping
- Prepare of Double cream
- Prepare 1-2 tsp of caster sugar
- It’s of Chocolate or sugar sprinkles
Step to make Christmas Trifle:
- Break up the trifles sponges into thumb size pieces and layer each dish. Pour over the liquor.
- Layer with sliced fresh strawberries and raspberrie
- To make the custard, combine the egg yolks and sugar and whisk together until smooth. Put the milk in a saucepan and heat gently.
- Gradually stir in the egg mixture and heat until the custard thicken Do not boil. Remove from the heat then stir in the vanilla. Leave to cool.
- Pour custard over the trifle sponges and fruit.
- Whisk the double cream until it forms soft peaks and stir in the sugar to taste before spreading the cream onto each trifle.
- Add a couple of raspberries and scatter over your choice of decoration grated chocolate, sprinkles, marshmallows, gold leaf etc. Chill for 30 minutes before serving (if you can possible wait that long).
