  6. You need 1 of Green Chillies slit (optional)
  7. It’s 1/2 tsp+1/4 tsp of Turmeric
  8. Prepare to taste of Salt
  9. Prepare 3 tbsp of chopped Coriander leaves
  10. It’s For of Masala
  11. Prepare 1/3 cup of grated Coconut
  12. You need 2 tsp of Urad Dal
  13. Prepare 2 tbsp of Coconut oil
  14. You need 4-5 of dry Red Chillies
  15. Prepare 1/4 tsp of Fenugreek Seeds
  16. Prepare 3 tablespoon of Coriander seeds
  17. Prepare 1 tbsp of Chana Dal
  18. You need 4 of Shallots or 1/2 onions chopped
  19. You need 2 sprigs of Curry Leaves
  20. Prepare For of Seasoning
  21. You need 2 tsp of Coconut oil
  22. Prepare 1/4 tsp of Hing
  23. It’s 1 sprig of Curry Leaves
  24. It’s 2 of dry red chillies
  25. You need 1 tsp of Mustard Seeds

Posted by kerala Leave a reply. Sambar is a very popular dish of South Indian It is served with steamed rice or as a side dish for idli, dosa etc. Kerala sambar is a dal based mixed vegetable curry.

Step to make Kerala Sambhar:
  1. Soak tamarind in warm water for 45 minutes
  2. Clean toor dal. discard the water
  3. In pressure cooker, add dal, turmeric and pressure cook until done
  4. Mash dal. keep it aside
  5. Heat oil in a pan, add dals and fenugreek seed saute until brown
  6. Add coriander seeds, dry red chillies, shallots/onion and curry leave mix
  7. Add coconut and saute until golden brown
  8. Allow to cool completely
  9. Pressure cook vegetables for 1 whistle with little water and 1/4 tsp turmeric
  10. Grind cooled mixture with water to smooth paste
  11. Add dal, tamarind water, ground paste, tomatoes, salt, bhendi to cooked vegetables
  12. Bring to boil, simmer and cook for 15-20 minutes
  13. Heat oil in a small pan. add hing and splutter mustard seeds
  14. Add dry red chillies and curry leave saute for 2-3 second
  15. Add coriander leaves seasoning to sambhar. mix well.
  16. Serve hot with rice/idli/dosas etc
