  1. You need 2 cup of cooked green gram
  2. You need 1/2 cup of desiccated coconut/ grated coconut
  3. Prepare 1 cup of jaggery melted
  4. You need 2 cup of maida/ all-purpose flour
  5. It’s 2 tsp of turmeric powder
  6. Prepare 1/2 tsp of Salt
  7. You need 1 tbsp of Elaichi/ cardamom powder
  8. You need As needed of Water

Traditionally it is eaten as an evening snack by the families when the children return from school or college. Sukhiyan is a very delicious tea time snack in Kerala. Its really easy to prepare, here is the. The main ingredients of Sukhiyan are green gram (cherupayar), coconut and jaggery.

Step to make Kerala sukhiyan:
  1. Mix boiled green gram, grated coconut, elaichi powder and jaggery together in a large bowl
  2. Take a small portion of above mix and make into a lemon sized ball
  3. In an another bowl mix maida/All-purpose flour, salt, turmeric powder into a thick paste without any lumbs
  4. Cover the green gram mix in this maida mix
  5. Deep fry the balls in the oil. Cook until it become golden brown. Remove it from the oil.
  6. Our Sukhiyan is ready
