The Ingredients need to make Japanese-Style Yakigashi (焼き菓子):
- You need 125 g of cake flour
- Prepare 125 g of condensed milk
- Prepare 3 g of baking soda
- You need 1 of egg yolk
- It’s 95 g of red bean paste
Step to make Japanese-Style Yakigashi (焼き菓子):
- In a large bowl, mix together cake flour and baking soda.
- In a small bowl, mix together condensed milk and egg. Then pour into flour mixture. Stir until well combined.
- Use hands to gather dough into ball. If dough sticks to hand, add more cake
- Cover and chill in fridge for 30 minute
- Weigh and divide red bean paste into 12 equal balls, about 22g each. Cover until ready to use.
- After resting, divide dough into 12 equal portions, about 8g each.
- Flatten dough ball in palm. Place red bean paste ball in the middle. Roll between palms to form a smooth ball.
- Pinch dough or add dough to form ears, etc. or your desired shape. Use brown food coloring and tiny paint brush to draw facial features, etc.
- Place onto baking sheet 1 inch apart. They do expand a little in the oven.
- Bake at 325 °F for 20 minute After first 10 mins, if browning too fast, cover top loosely with foil.
- When baked golden and top slightly brown, take out from oven. Let cool. Enjoy the cuties!
