The Ingredients needed to make Sweet and Salty Simmered Konnayku and Atsuage Fried Tofu:
  1. Prepare 1 of Konnyaku
  2. You need 2 of Atsugage (small square ones)
  3. You need 10 of Shishito peppers
  4. It’s 1 tbsp of Sesame oil
  5. It’s of Seasoning ingredients
  6. You need 2 tbsp of Soy sauce
  7. It’s 2 tbsp of Sugar
  8. You need 2 tbsp of Sake
  9. Prepare 2 tbsp of Mirin
  10. You need 1 tsp of or more Gochujang
  11. You need 1/2 tsp of Dashi stock granules
Step to make Sweet and Salty Simmered Konnayku and Atsuage Fried Tofu:
  1. Cut the konnyaku in half horizontally. Score both sides diagonally in small increment Cut into easy to eat piece
  2. Massage the konnyaku with salt (extra), and boil for 5 minutes to get rid of the odor.
  3. Pour some boiling water over the atsuage to get rid of the surface oil. Cut into 1 cm plus dice.
  4. Take the stem end and calyx off the shishito pepper If they peppers are big cut them in half lengthwise. Mix the flavoring ingredients together.
  5. Heat up a frying pan, add the sesame oil and stir fry the konnyaku. Make sure to cook both sides well.
  6. Add the atsuage and continue stir-frying. Add the shishito peppers and stir-fry briefly.
  7. Add the flavoring ingredients, and stir-simmer while shaking the pan.
  8. When there is no moisture left in the pan, turn off the heat. Transfer to serving plates and its done. It will taste better if you let it rest for a while before eating.
