The Ingredients needed to make Gujarati Handvo (multi grain savoury methi cake):
  1. Prepare 1 of /4 cup Chana Dal (split chickpeas)
  2. It’s 1 of /4 cup tuar Dal (split pegeon peas)
  3. You need 1 of /4 cup urad dal (split) white lentils)
  4. It’s 1/4 cup of rice
  5. It’s 1 of /4 cup Dalia (broken wheat)
  6. You need 1 cup of fresh fenugreek leaves (methi)
  7. You need 1 cup of sour curd
  8. It’s 1 tsp of Garlic paste
  9. It’s 1 tsp of ginger paste
  10. Prepare 2-3 of green chillies finely chopped
  11. It’s 1 tsp of fenugreek seeds (methi dana)
  12. Prepare 2 tsp of sugar
  13. Prepare 1 tsp of red chilli powder (optional)
  14. It’s 1 tsp of Turmeric powder
  15. You need to taste of Salt
  16. Prepare 1/4 tsp of citric acid (Nimbu ke phool/sat) (optional)
  17. You need of For tempering
  18. It’s 1 tsp of Mustard seeds
  19. Prepare 2 tsp of white Sesame seeds (til)
  20. Prepare 1 of /4 tsp asfoetida (hing)
  21. Prepare of Oil for shallow fry
Step to make Gujarati Handvo (multi grain savoury methi cake):
  1. Add all dals in a bowl. Wash soak in a water for 4-5 hour Add fenugreek seed
  2. Remove excess Grind coarse paste in a Mixie jar. Add curd salt. Mix well. Keep batter in a warm place for fermentation at least 7-8 hour
  3. Preheat handwa cooker(gas oven). Add all ingredients in a batter. (except tempering).
  4. Mix properly. So that all ingredients mixed well.
  5. Now for tempering heat oil in a fry pan. Add mustard seed Once crackled add til. Switch off ga
  6. Grease handwa cooker with oil. Dust wheat Pour half batter. Spread tempering. Mix with spoon. Then pour remaining batter. Spread remaining tempering.
  7. Cover the lid. Cook it on high flame for first 10 minute Then cook on medium heat for 10 minute At last simmer gas cook again for 5-10 minute Check with knife or tooth pick. If it comes out clear. Remove from ga
  8. Let it cool on room temperature for 1/2 hour. Demould it on dish. Turn it out.
  9. Cut in desired pieces with green chutney and tomato sauce.
