hummus and if possible, prepare your own. Indeed, homemade hummus will not have any. If you are a non-vegetarian food lover, then it is quite necessary for you to go for Blend garbanzo beans, lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, cumin, salt, and sesame oil in a food processor; stream reserved bean liquid into the mixture as it blends until desired consistency is achieved.

You can also use cannellini beans in place of chickpea This cannellini bean hummus is delightful, too. If you have extra time and want to achieve a creamy hummus consistency, remove the skins from each chickpea after rinsing them.

The Ingredients need to make Easy Hummus:
  1. It’s 225-240 g of canned chickpeas (garbanzos)
  2. Prepare 2-3 tbsp of almond butter, or Skippy (or tahini if you have one)
  3. It’s 1/4 cup of olive oil
  4. You need 2-4 of garlic cloves, to taste
  5. You need Dash of salt, to taste
  6. It’s 1/2 tsp of cumin (optional)
  7. You need 1/8 cup of lemon / lime juice (or juice out 4-6 pcs of calamansi)
  8. Prepare 2-3 tbsp of cold water (trick of the trade)
  9. It’s Dash of paprika or cayenne pepper, as garnish
  10. You need Dash of olive oil, as garnish

I was skeptical about leaving out the tahini. I added a bit more garlic, a tsp of black pepper, a dash of tamari, and a chopped up green onion to give it some of the flavors of my fave Moosewood recipe. Im getting ready to make my second batch. Our Roasted Red Pepper Hummus is extra creamy with roasted red peppers added.

Step to make Easy Hummus:
  1. On a blender / bullet / food processor, combine nut butter (or tahini), and olive oil and pulse until smooth.
  2. Add all the remaining ingredients, pulse until smooth. If puree appear to be tacky or thick, add 1-2 tbsp of water then pulse again. NOTE! If you have LOTS of time and want to make extra creamy hummus, peel off the chickpea membranes before you puree them.
  3. Taste test to know if you need to adjust according to your own preference.
  4. Transfer puree on a serving bowl. With a spoon, gently glide it on top of the puree to create a pleasantly looking swirl, then drizzle a dash of paprika and olive oil.
  5. Serve as a dip, as a bread spread, as a salad dressing, OR use as your alternative to cheese or mayonnaise that your other recipe calls for.
