The Ingredients needed to make Urad Dal Khichdi

  1. It’s 1 cup of long grain basmati rice
  2. It’s 1/3 cup of kali urad ki dal
  3. It’s 2 tbsp of mustard oil
  4. It’s 1 of bay leaves
  5. It’s 2 of dry red chillies
  6. You need Pinch of hing
  7. You need pinch of zeera
  8. You need 1 medium size of onion sliced
  9. You need 1/2 tsp of garlic paste
  10. You need 1/2 tsp of ginger paste
  11. It’s 1/2 tsp of Turmeric powder,
  12. You need 1/4 tsp of garam masala powder,
  13. You need To taste of Salt
  14. Prepare 1/2 cup of peas boiled
  15. Prepare 1 large of potato cut into medium sized square
  16. Prepare 1/4 tsp of sugar
Step to make Urad Dal Khichdi

This is a common dish in some parts of India:

  1. Mix dal rice, wash it, soak in water for 1 hour.
  2. Now strain it, keep aside.
  3. Take a pressure cooker, add oil, heat it.
  4. Add tejpatta dry red chilli, sauté it for a sec.
  5. Add hing zeera, let it splutter.
  6. Now add onion sliced, stir fry it till brown. Add veggies, fry it.
  7. Add khichdi mix, stir fry it for a while. Add ginger garlic paste now.
  8. Stir fry khichdi for a while.
  9. Now add haldi salt, stir fry it for a while.
  10. Add garam masala powder, again stir it.
  11. Now add water accordingly so as to keep the khichdi dry. Add sugar also.
  12. Place the lid, give 4 -5 whistle
  13. Switch off the flame, take out in a serving dish.
  14. Have it with desi ghee, dahi, achaar, chutney, salad or papad.
