The Ingredients needed to make New England Beef Stew:
  1. You need 1 1/2 lb of Extra-lean stew beef, chunks
  2. Prepare 2 tbsp of vegetable oil
  3. It’s 3 1/2 cup of water
  4. Prepare 1/2 cup of beef stock
  5. You need 1 of yellow onion, chopped
  6. You need 2 tsp of garlic, minced
  7. It’s 2 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
  8. You need 1 tbsp of lemon juice
  9. Prepare 1 tsp of sugar
  10. You need 1/2 tsp of salt
  11. Prepare 1/2 tsp of paprika
  12. Prepare 1/4 tsp of black pepper
  13. Prepare 1/8 tsp of allspice
  14. It’s 1 of bay leaf
  15. You need 6 of medium carrots, peeled, sliced thin
  16. Prepare 4 of Yukon gold potatoes, peeled, chopped, 1 inch chunks
  17. Prepare 3 of celery stalk, sliced thin
Step to make New England Beef Stew:
  1. Heat vegetable oil in large pot on medium-high heat. Add stew beef. Stir 10-15 minutes until brown. Drain beef in metal strainer to remove excess fat. Add beef back to pot.
  2. Add water and beef stock to pot. Heat medium-high. Add chopped onions, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, sugar, salt, pepper, paprika, allspice, and bay leaf. Stir occasionally. Bring to near boil.
  3. Reduce heat to low. Simmer covered for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
  4. Stir in celery, carrots and potatoe Return to boil. Reduce heat. Simmer covered for 30 minutes or until beef and vegetables are tender. Discard bay leaf. Serve and enjoy.
