The Ingredients needed to make New England Beef Stew:
- You need 1 1/2 lb of Extra-lean stew beef, chunks
- Prepare 2 tbsp of vegetable oil
- It’s 3 1/2 cup of water
- Prepare 1/2 cup of beef stock
- You need 1 of yellow onion, chopped
- You need 2 tsp of garlic, minced
- It’s 2 tbsp of Worcestershire sauce
- You need 1 tbsp of lemon juice
- Prepare 1 tsp of sugar
- You need 1/2 tsp of salt
- Prepare 1/2 tsp of paprika
- Prepare 1/4 tsp of black pepper
- Prepare 1/8 tsp of allspice
- It’s 1 of bay leaf
- You need 6 of medium carrots, peeled, sliced thin
- Prepare 4 of Yukon gold potatoes, peeled, chopped, 1 inch chunks
- Prepare 3 of celery stalk, sliced thin
Step to make New England Beef Stew:
- Heat vegetable oil in large pot on medium-high heat. Add stew beef. Stir 10-15 minutes until brown. Drain beef in metal strainer to remove excess fat. Add beef back to pot.
- Add water and beef stock to pot. Heat medium-high. Add chopped onions, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, sugar, salt, pepper, paprika, allspice, and bay leaf. Stir occasionally. Bring to near boil.
- Reduce heat to low. Simmer covered for 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
- Stir in celery, carrots and potatoe Return to boil. Reduce heat. Simmer covered for 30 minutes or until beef and vegetables are tender. Discard bay leaf. Serve and enjoy.
