Hi Guys, So im back again and this time Im with my Mum. I went home to Warri, Delta State where I was born and where I grew up. Delta banga soup is best served with starch or eba.

While it is indigenous to the Deltas, it is also loved and enjoyed by both People from Edo state and all over the Niger Delta state Finally the Banga soup recipe has arrived and Im soooo nice, theres a bonus section on how to make starch and another section on how to chop am! Cmon, starch is food for royalty!

The Ingredients needed to make Banga soup and Starch:
  1. Prepare 1 of mudu Palm kernel fruit
  2. You need 1 kg of beef
  3. You need of Onion
  4. Prepare of Dry pepper
  5. Prepare of Knorr
  6. Prepare of Crayfish
  7. It’s of Banga spices
  8. Prepare leaves of Beletientien
  9. It’s of Banga stick(dont know d name)
  10. It’s of Raw starch
  11. Prepare of Dry fish
  12. It’s of Palm oil

Cooking tips for anyone who uses canned palm fruits concentrate. When the fish and beef are cooked, add the palm fruit concentrate and water and cook to desired consistency. Nigerian soups are the trademarks of the ethnic group they originate from. Most Nigerians soups incorporate many vegetables and protein, and are usually finished off with palm oil or a stew/sauce.

Step to make Banga soup and Starch:
  1. Wash ur palm kernel and place on a pot,add water and boil for about 30-45mins, sieve and set aside.dont throw out d sieved
  2. In a pot,add ur beef,knorr, salt and onions and cook on its stock for abt 3 mins,then add more water and cook till done.
  3. Once ur palm kernel fruits is cool,pour in a mortar and pound properly to remove d shaft.
  4. Transfer d content into a bowl and add d sieved water and wash with ur hand
  5. Once u have finished Washing d palm kernel, strain and keep d strained water aside.
  6. Add more water to d palm kernel and wash again.also strain and add to d first one u did.
  7. Pour ur strained content into a pot,add ur beef stock,knorr,onions,crayfish,banga stick, banga spices and beletientien leaves,cover and simmer for 20min
  8. Open and add ur beef and dry fish and cook till u get a thick consistency, taste for salt and correct accordingly.
  9. Ur banga soup is ready.
  10. For ur starch, get raw cooking starch,place in a pot and dissolve with little water,add ur palm oil and place on medium heat and begin to stir continuously till it gets thick.
  11. Ur starch and banga soup is ready.

Banga soup and starch is a very delicious meal enjoyed by the people of Delta state in the southern part of Nigeria, though its enjoyed around other part of the country.
