The Ingredients needed to make Cajun Mac and Cheese:
- Prepare 8 tbsp of unsalted butter, melted
- You need 1 cup of panko bread crumbs
- It’s 5 cup of milk
- It’s 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
- Prepare 1/2 tsp of ground black pepper
- It’s 2 tsp of blackened seasoning
- You need 1 tsp of chili powder
- You need 2 cup of sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- You need 2 cup of Jack cheese, shredded
- It’s 2 cup of fontina cheese, grated
- You need 1 lb of elbow macaroni
- It’s 1 lb of kielbasa or andouille thinly sliced
Step to make Cajun Mac and Cheese:
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a medium bowl, combine bread crumbs and 2 tablespoons of the melted butter. Set aside.
- Cook macaroni 3 minutes less than manufacturers directions in a large pot. Drain and rinse under cold
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, brown the sausage.
- Put remaining 6 tablespoons butter in the pot used to cook pasta over medium heat. When butter bubbles, add flour, pepper, and seasoning.
- Slowly pour milk into mixture while whisking. Continue to cook until mixture becomes thick.
- Remove from heat and add 3/4 of each of the cheese Then add macaroni and sausage. Mix well.
- Transfer to a casserole then top with remaining cheese and breadcrumb
- Bake until browned on top, about 30 minute
