This recipe is an update of my popular deli-style Vietnamese roast chicken. I simplified the recipe to use less ingredients but maintain the same great. Vietnamese Style Chicken Wings - baked chicken wings marinated in a caramel sauce that is to die for.

The Ingredients needed to make Chicken Wings Vietnamese Style:
  1. You need of marinade
  2. It’s 12 of chicken wings
  3. You need 8 of garlic cloves
  4. You need 1/4 teaspoon of salt
  5. It’s 1/4 cup of warm water
  6. Prepare 1/2 cup of fish sauce
  7. Prepare 1/3 cup of sugar
  8. Prepare of coating
  9. Prepare 3/4 cup of flour
  10. You need 3 tablespoon of corn starch
  11. Prepare of glaze
  12. You need 1/2 cup of left over marinade
  13. Prepare 1/2 cup of water
  14. It’s 1 tablespoon of (or to taste) chili sauce

So far I havent really met anyone who does not like chicken wings, and I for one absolutely love them. I fry the chicken wings and toss them in the easy special sauce. Use a spoon to push the filling into the meat, then pierce the wings with toothpicks in order to keep them sealed. Step to make Chicken Wings Vietnamese Style:
  1. Smash the garlic with the salt. Mix with the warm water, let it sit 10 minute
  2. Add the sugar and fish sauce to the garlic water, stir until sugar is fully dissolved. Add wing
  3. Marinade wings for at least 4 hours, overnight is better. NOTE, you can leave the wings whole like I did, or cut them into portions, doesnt matter.
  4. Remove wings to a collender, let drain 15 minutes, save marinade.
  5. Preheat oven to 450 F
  6. While the wings are draining, mix the coating.
  7. Dredge the wings in the flour mixture.
  8. Place on baking sheet, place in oven on the middle rack. Set timer for 20 minute
  9. When the timer is reached, turn wings over, bake another 20 minute
  10. When the wings are done to your liking, start the glaze.
  11. Add 1/2 cup marinade to a wok/stir-fry/skillet. Add 1/2 cup water, 1-2 tablespoons chili sauce to taste.
  12. Bring to a boil, (do not skip this step as the marinade was in contact with raw poultry), reduce until it thickens, about 3 minutes
  13. Coat wings in glaze
  14. Serve
