The Ingredients need to make Jeera Rice:
  1. It’s of RICE COOKING OF
  2. Prepare 1.5 cups of basmati rice
  3. Prepare 5 cups of water
  4. It’s of RICE TEMPERING THE
  5. Prepare 2 tbsps of oil
  6. You need 2 tsps of cumin seeds / jeera
  7. Prepare 1 tbsp of coriander leaves / dhania chopped patta
  8. It’s 1 of bay leaf / tej indian patta
  9. You need 2 - 3 of cardamom elaichi green //hari
  10. Prepare 2 of cloves /lavang
  11. You need 1 tsp of salt or as required
  12. Prepare 2 - 3 of star anise petals of /badian
  13. Prepare 1 tbsp of ghee
Step to make Jeera Rice:
  1. Take 2 cup basmati rice and rince under water until water runs clear of starch. Soak the rice for 30 mins and keep aside.
  2. Boil water and add rice and salt. Simmer the rice on a low flame uncovered.
  3. The rice grains should be cooked till tender and yet separate. Drain the remaining water and keep the cooked rice aside.
  4. Heat oil in a small pan. add cumin seeds and let them crackle.
  5. Lower the heat and add the cardamom, cloves and star anise. stir for 1-2 minute Turn off heat and keep aside for a minute.
  6. Gently mix the tempering with a folk to the rice grain Even if some rice grains break, its alright.
  7. Garnish jeera rice with coriander at the time of serving.
