The Ingredients needed to make Emmes Mac and Cheese:
- Prepare 4 cup of Lg. Elbow Macaroni
- You need 6 tbsp of Margarine or Butter
- You need 1/2 cup of Finely chopped Onions
- Prepare 6 tbsp of All-purpose Flour
- You need 4 cup of Milk
- It’s 1/2 tsp of Dry Mustard
- You need 1/4 tsp of Garlic Powder
- Prepare 1 tsp of Salt
- You need 1/4 tsp of plus a pinch Black Pepper
- Prepare 4 1/2 cup of Shredded Cheddar Cheese plus
- It’s 1 cup of Shredded Cheddar Cheese, set aside
Step to make Emmes Mac and Cheese:
- Cook elbow macaroni as per pkg directions
- Preheat oven to 350°
- In,a small bowl combine flour, garlic powder, dry mustard, salt and pepper
- In a large Dutch oven, melt butter and saute onions
- Stir in flour mixture
- Gradually add about 1 cup of the milk, stir until flour mixture is smooth
- Stir in rest of milk
- Stir constantly over medium heat, until sauce thickens
- Add cheese, stir until cheese melts
- Add macaroni to cheese sauce
- Spoon into 2 greased 2-quart baking dishes
- Bake for 30 minutes
- Add remaining cheese after 30 minutes and broil for 5-10 minutes until cheese is melted and crisps
