Prawn Fry, Prawn Fry Andhra Style or Royyalu (royalla) Vepudu is easy and quick prawn fry with minimal ingredients and it taste yum. I have already posted Nadan Chemmeen Varuthathu (Kerala Style Prawn Fry) which is almost similar but in that we make paste of everything and then cook it and thi Prawns are our familys favorite sea-food.

The Ingredients needed to make Prawn Vepudu / Prawn Fry:
  1. You need 1/2 of kilo deshelled and deveined prawns
  2. You need 2 medium size of onions, chopped finely
  3. Prepare 2 medium size of tomato, chopped finely
  4. You need 2 of green chilies slit lengthwise
  5. Prepare 1 tbs of tamarind paste
  6. It’s 2 tsp of ginger garlic paste
  7. You need 2 tbsp of oil
  8. It’s 1/2 spoon of turmeric powder
  9. It’s as needed of Salt
  10. You need as needed of Chilli powder
  11. Prepare 1 1/2 spoon of Garam masala
  12. Prepare 1/2 spoon of pepper powder
  13. It’s As required of Coriander leaves for garnish
  14. It’s As required of curry leaves for garnish

Prawn fry recipe or royyala vepudu is shallow fried with the basic spices and its an instant dish that can be made in few minute But, the most important point in making a prawn recipe is cleaning and deveining the prawn The stir fried prawns that you have eaten so far will not prepare you for the spicy blast of Royyala Vepudu. Step to make Prawn Vepudu / Prawn Fry:
  1. Heat a kadhai with oil. Once the oil is hot, add a spoon of jeera and curry leave To this add the green chilies and onion.
  2. Once the onions are transparent, add the chopped tomatoe Then add salt and the turmeric powder. Let this mixture cook until the tomato is completely done.
  3. Add ginger-garlic paste to the tomato gravy and let it cook until the raw smell goes away.
  4. At this point add chili powder and stir for 5 mins and then add the tamarind pasted. Let the entire mixture cook until the gravy comes together and leaves oil on the sides of the pan. Taste the gravy and adjust seasoning accordingly.
  5. The gravy is ready for the prawn now. Please ensure there is no water in the prawns while adding to the gravy. On medium flame, stir fry the prawns in the gravy along with the garam masala and pepper powder until the water in the gravy dries up.
  6. Tip Do not cover the kadai once the prawns are added to the gravy. The prawns leave out water while cooking. And overcooking of prawns make them lose their texture.
  7. Garnish and serve with rice / roti / dosa.
