The Ingredients needed to make French Baquette:
- Prepare 4 cups of flour
- You need 1 tbsp of yeast
- Prepare 1 tsp of salt
- Prepare 1 tbsp of veg oil
- You need 1 1/2 cups of water
- Prepare of Corn meal
Step to make French Baquette:
- Sprinkle yeast in 1/4 cup warm water and allow to activate
- Measure flour into a bowl,add salt and mix
- Add oil,yeast mixture and water and mix
- Mix to form a dough and knead for 5 mins
- Cover and allow to rise for an hour.Then defliate the dough as in figure 2 and divide into 3
- Roll each portion into a long rectangle
- Then roll up from the shortest end intoa log
- Arrange on a tray dusted with cornmeal or flour
- Use a carving tool or a sharp knife to make strips on the baquette.Then cover and allow to rise for 30 mins
- You can see they are fully risen,then brush the top with water
- Put a pot of hot water in the bottom of your oven,then put your baking tray and bake until golden brown for 20 minBrush with butter to make it shiny.
