  6. You need 5-6 of beans chopped
  7. You need 1 of potato cubed (optional)
  8. You need 3 of florets of cauliflower(optional)

  10. You need 1 tsp of garam masala
  11. Prepare 1 tbsp of chopped coconut
  12. You need 1/2 tsp of turmeric
  13. It’s 2 of bay leaves
  14. Prepare To taste of salt and sugar
  15. Prepare 2 tbsp of mustard oil
  16. Prepare 1 tbsp of ghee
  17. Prepare 1/2 tsp of cumin
  18. It’s 1 of dry red chilli
  19. Prepare 2 of green chillies

  1. Soak roasted moong dal for 15 minuteParboil carrots and beanAlso boil cubed potatoes if adding.Chop cauliflower into small pieces and fry lightly and set aside.
  2. Heat 1 tsp mustard oil in a pressure cooker and fry lightly chopped onion.Add the moong dal and rice.Add turmeric,bay leaves,salt and sugar to taste and 3 cups water approximately.
  3. Pressure cook 2 whistles and release steam after 5 minuteIf needed more water to be added.
  4. Add the parboiled vegetables,coconut chips,green peas,ginger paste.Heat 1 tsp oil and sprinkle cumin and 1 broken dry red chilli.When they splutter,add it to the boiling khichdi and stir.When nearly done add the fried cauliflower if you are adding it and give it a stir.
  5. Sprinkle garam masala and broken green chillieAlso add 1 tbsp ghee.Give it a boil and serve with roasted papad, French fries or brinjal fritter

Set the Instant Pot in saute mode and when the display reads HOT, add the oil or ghee. Open the Instant Pot and garnish the khichdi with cilantro. Serve hot with roasted papad and pickle.
