The Ingredients needed to make Ulli Vada- Kerala evening snack:
- You need 2 big of Onions
- It’s 2 tsp of Kashmiri Chilli powder
- It’s 2 of Green chillies
- You need 2 tsp of Grated ginger
- It’s 1/4 tsp of Hing /asafoetida
- You need 1 tsp of Garam masala 1
- It’s 1 cup of Besan/gram flour
- You need as needed of Coconut oil -for deep frying
- It’s to taste of salt
- Prepare 2 sprigs of curry leaves -2 sprigs
Step to make Ulli Vada- Kerala evening snack:
- Slice onion into thin pieces(lengthwise).Add required salt and mix it nicely with your hand,so that water(juice)will ooze out from onion.
- Add grated ginger,chopped green chilli and chopped curry leaves,garam masala and gram keep this aside for 10 minuteNo need to add extra
- Add a spoonful of onion batter mix to the hot oil and deep fry it.Add 3- 4 spoons of batter separately,deep fry it until both sides turns golden brown.Drain it to a tissue paper for absorbing excess oil.
- Do the same for the next batch of vada
- Serve this with hot tea or coffee or any chutney varieties as you wish
